Accommodation comprises a number of comfortable one and two bedroomed cottages, tastefully decorated in Afro-colonial style. The en-suite bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning, mosquito nets, ceiling fans and are serviced daily. In addition, each cottage has a kitchenette with a fridge and private verandah with braai facilities. There are 4 camp/caravan sites situated on the edge of the forest, each have electrical points and private barbeques. Water should be conserved at all times Swimming pool is closed until further notice, due to the drought. No persons other than those quoted for, are permitted to share the accommodation. The region has a vast diversity of natural and cultural resources that are all within easy access of the Lodge. Revel in the cultural history and crafts of this Zulu Kingdom. Have the added bonus of game viewing from an open vehicle and a boat on the Hluhluwe River. Enjoy a tour on the Lubombo Mountains with its magnificent views of Zululand and surrounding areas, also finding out more about the people who inhabit this area. Malaria is one of the most serious diseases in the world. The disease can be fatal if not diagnosed correctly and appropriately treated. Travellers should be vigilant and remember the A, B, C, D & E of malaria prevention. Find out whether there is a risk of getting malaria there. B: Avoidance of mosquito bites Take precautionary measures to prevent mosquito bites in all risk areas. If possible, remain indoors between dusk and dawn (mosquitoes carrying malaria bite at night). Apply an insect repellent containing DEET to exposed skin at night. Spray your room with an insecticide spray after closing windows and doors before retiring. Take only the medicines recommended by a health professional. Take the medication at the same time every day (or week, for weekly meds) with plenty of water, after a meal. D: Early detection of malaria The majority of deaths and cases of complicated malaria result from delayed diagnosis and/or inappropriate treatment. Seek immediate medical attention if you have any flu-like symptoms for up to 6 months after leaving a malaria area. Confirmation of malaria as a cause of illness is made by the examination of blood for parasites, either by blood smear or a rapid malaria test. E: Effective treatment Malaria must be treated as a medical emergency. The sooner effective treatment is started, the better the prognosis. F: Fast notification Malaria is a notifiable disease. Health care professionals and facilities that have patients presenting with malaria are required by law to notify the case.
